If summer is wedding season, then spring (okay in some places its still winter) is engagement season.
This spring was no different. I found myself flying around the country photographing couples that will be married this summer. Each one couldn’t be more different. And.. this is something new, MY ROLE at their weddings couldn’t be more different. This summer is going to be a little different, I will of course be shooting weddings, but I’ll be attending 1 as a real 100% guest and I’ll even be a bridesmaid as another (don’t worry I’ll post some pics of me in the dress, holding flowers and smiling for the camera).
First engagement shoot of the year was for my dear dear friends Erin and Matt. These two have had such a whirlwind fairytale love story. They first met and dated when they were 15 years old… then ten years later they reconnected. It was love at “Second Sight??”. Within a year they knew they wanted to spend the rest of their lives together and I couldn’t be more happy for them. So, they asked me to shoot a few pics of them when I was doing my annual winter Mackinac visit. We took a little trip to CASTLE FARMS in Charlevoix (where their wedding will be taking place) and had a blast playing in the snow. You may not be able to tell but there was THREE FEET of snow!! Thank goodness this California girl had her snow pants with her.
Then came a trip to Colorado where I 1) realized Altitude literally takes my breath away 2) Being on top of a Mountain on a snow bike freaks me out 3) its’ a BEAUTIFUL place to photograph. Here I met Barbara and Cameron. I am so thrilled to be part of their wedding back on Mackinac Island in the summer. The wonderful thing when I get to do these special engagement shoots… I get to really get to know them before the wedding even begins. Now I can’t wait to be at their wedding! They were so much fun and such good sports considering every time we went outside the wind and snow would blow like crazy!! Well, guys I promise it won’t be that cold on the island (at least I sure as heck hope not).
Then… finally a location I can get used to.. Naples Florida… on the beach in 80 degree weather! YES!! Now this engagement shoot was not only fun, but incredibly cute and endearing. It was my girl Samantha and her beau Curt. I have been so lucky to witness this love affair from the very beginning. Watching her and Curt together reminds everyone of the love that is possible. (being one of Sam’s close friends I am privy to the cute and adorable things this big teddy bear does for her… but shhhh don’t tell anyone I said that).
Can’t wait for the summer!!
